If you’re searching for inspirational inground pool design ideas you’ve come to the right place. Coogan’s Design-Build has created thousands of blueprints for folks looking to transform their mediocre backyard into a wonderful, watery retreat. What we love most about creating custom pool design is the endless possibilities that an empty backyard offers. Obviously, a good pool design is critical to the long term success of your project, not only for aesthetic reasons but for legal compliance and optimum pool performance. There are critical factors to consider in the early stages of pool design exploration, this is why it’s smart to seek the guidance of a landscape architect or a trusted pool designer.

rectangular swimming pool, beach entry

The pool shown above was designed for a young couple who recently purchased a home in the Marvin Creek neighborhood. Their new abode was perfect until they realized the backyard seemed unaccomodating.  With nothing more than an expanse of grass at their backdoor they soon knew that a pool was the perfect remedy. After several meetings with various pool builders in Charlotte they chose Coogan’s Design-Build to handle their project. We were thrilled that we were able to capture their vision and present it to them in the form of a  perfectly planned pool design. This design incorporated several of their needs and desires:

  • An area for the wife to tan while in the water
  • Easy entry and exit for the children.
  • Ambience while entertaining
  • Ease of maintenance

-The comprehensive package we presented surpassed their expectations. Their new pool design included a gently sloping beach entry for tanning and easy in and out. The sloping entry was constructed with material matching the natural stone used on the surrounding pool deck. Rectangular fire troughs located on either side of the hot tub jump to life at night for a dramatic effect. The soothing sounds of water spilling from the spa into the pool along with underwater lights complete this captivating environment. This newly built pool paradise stays crystal clear with a salt water pool system. The owners enjoy the ability to control pool pumps, lighting and heaters with easy remote access.

free form pool, spa, waterfall, fire pit

This free-form saltwater pool was designed for a young family who recently purchased a home in Waxhaw. Although the neighborhood is in a large gated community, they soon realized there was not a local pool nearby for summer fun. They decided to build their own.  After meeting with several companies, they chose Coogan’s Design-Build for their new pool design and construction. Several brainstorming sessions with both our landscape architect and pool designer were conducted. They explored hundreds of options in a quest for the perfect custom pool.  After careful and collaborative planning we presented an over the top pool design that fulfilled all their dreams while still staying  within their budget. This unique Waxhaw pool features a fabulous splashing waterfall with a slide zipping through the center of the boulders. A circular spa connects to the far side of the pool offering chilly swimmers a place to soak up the warmth. This incredible design includes a sunken kitchen that is open and is bar height to the pool. The kids and their friends love swimming up for drinks or snacks without having to leave the water. Needless to say this family’s pool paradise is the envy of the neighbors.

3d pool and spa design tanning ledge

The pool shown above is an example of an animated 3D pool design created from a 2D autocad rendering. The highly detailed 2D masterplan pool design was used to transfer homeowner ideas into a viewable form, documenting pool dimensions, legal boundaries and proximities to nearby structures. However, no matter how encompassing a 2D design is, it is still limited in its capacity to show specifics such as the varying effects of the sun throughout the day and views from the pool to the house and vice versa. A 3D pool design quickly brings a pool design to life like nothing else can. With 3D design clients can actually view the flowers and trees, see relevant moving shadows, hear the splashing waterfall and get a  true feel for the experience of having a pool in their backyard. New questions and afterthoughts are often brought to the table at this point. This 3D pool design features two tanning ledges, a spa for lounging, travertine, pool furniture and the specific botanicals chosen for the area.
